The 8 Most Important Things to Pack in Your Carry-On for a Flight

1) Lululemon Fanny Pack

Fanny packs are great to use a personal item! If you’re a light packer, then you can fit all the essentials in a fanny pack. If you pack on the heavier side and want to bring a larger personal item, then it’s still a good idea to bring a fanny pack on your trip so you can easily carry around and access items like your phone, passport, and chapstick!

2) Kindle Paperwhite

Kindles are my #1 travel recommendation to anyone who travels via airplane! Books are a great way to pass time while on short or long flights and Kindles provide an endless supply of reading material perfect for those who fly a lot. Gone are the days of packing a couple thick books that take up space and weigh you down! Kindles also give you piece of mind while reading since you won’t need to turn on the overhead reading light, which I’m pretty sure no one wants to do while people are sleeping around you.

3) AirPods Pro 2

AirPods are another travel must-have! The AirPods Pro also have noise cancelling features which are great when it comes to nap time or even just to drown out the loud engine sound while flying. I used to have the standard AirPods, but I’d say the AirPods Pro are worth the investment as the noise cancelling really does help when trying to sleep or focus on flights. This is probably my best travel investment item yet because they keep me entertained while traveling, but I also use them almost every day that I’m not traveling as well!

4) Aquaphor

Aquaphor is super handy and multi-use. It’s a perfect chapstick alternative and can be used on your hands or face as a moisturizer too. I find this to be necessary when traveling on long overseas flights since my skin tends to dry out on planes. Also, aquaphor can be used to treat small cuts and you never know when you might get a scratch or one of those back of the ankle blisters from walking around so much on vacation.

5) Travel Charging Adapter

In case you didn’t know, travel plugs are not the same across the world! There are a few different types of outlet shapes that you’ll need if you plan to travel to different countries or continents around the world. The easiest solution is to purchase a travel adapter that can convert into more than one outlet type. That way you’ll be covered in most places for your travels. Another important thing to consider is what type or port you need the adapter to have to plug your charging cords into. For example, new iPhone chargers will require a USB-C port, but older phones and AirPods require a standard USB port. Also, don’t forget about laptops or hair styling tools which usually have a two or three prong plug. Make sure your travel adapter has several port options so all your devices can be charged abroad!

6) iPhone Charger

Make sure to pack a phone charger in your personal item for easy access during your flight. Most flights to different countries have a power source available to you, and I tend to charge my phone the whole flight just to make sure I have a full charge when I touch down! One thing to consider to that the outlet available to you on a plane might not be what your current charger works with. Most airlines are upgrading their aircraft to include USB or USB-C ports which will make charging phones, AirPods, and Kindles super convenient, but make sure to bring a charging brick or your travel adapter just in case they only have the larger two or three plug options available to you.

7) Tylenol

There’s not too much to say for this item! You never know when you might get a headache or a small cold from traveling, so it’s best to carry some travel size Tylenol with you. There’s nothing worse than suffering through a 10+ hour flight with a headache, which is another reason to make sure to pack this in your personal item so you have it handy!

8) Passport/ID

There’s not much to say, here! Make sure to pack your passport, driver’s license, or whatever form of identification that you need for your trip.
